Resumen

En las últimas décadas se han desarrollado diversos antihelmínticos de gran efectividad frente a diferentes tipos de parásitos, los cuales amplían las alternativas de tratamiento, con el objeto de evitar el desarrollo de resistencia de los parásitos a la acción del fármaco. En la década del 80 y a principio de los 90, se introdujeron nuevos antihelmintos de amplio espectro que pertenecen a las familias de las Avermectinas y Milbemicinas, en éstas se incluyen compuestos naturales y semisintéticos que tienen similar estructura, un modo de acción común y semejante espectro de actividad, pero difieren en sus propiedades farmacocinéticas que determina que la actividad de las milbemicinas (moxidectina) sea más persistente y presenten una mayor eficacia sobre los artrópodos. Uno de estos compuestos es la Ivermectina (IVM), antiparasitario endectócido, utilizado ampliamente en el control de nematodos y artrópodos que afectan a los bovinos. Su prolongada permanencia en el plasma y su lipofilicidad aseguran la efectividad farmacológica (IGLESIAS et al., 2005). La IVM es el resultado de la fermentación bacteriana del Streptomyces avermitilis, obtenido por primera vez en el año 1979, es un fármaco muy liposoluble y poco hidrosoluble, por lo que se puede aplicar por todas las vías, siendo las más recomendadas la subcutánea (SC), intramuscular (IM) y tópica “pour-on”.
