Resumen
El presente trabajo recopila información científica sobre el atropellamiento de fauna silvestre, hace énfasis en el papel de las carreteras como sistema generador de impactos negativos sobre la fauna silvestre, discute aspectos tales como: fragmentación y modificación de hábitat, efecto barrera, efecto de borde, daños y mortalidad de fauna como factores que influyen en el deterioro poblacional de fauna silvestre. Igualmente, plantea la importancia de adelantar estudios que ayuden a minimizar este impacto que puede llevar al deterioro poblacional de muchas especies.
