Abstract

The narrative shows the end-of-life care of a 30-year-old young adult woman, diagnosed with stage IV adenocarcinoma of the cecum, with end-stage liver metastasis, seeing her general condition, her sad and plaintive face due to permanent pain, her distended abdomen and that she was alone, aroused the interest in deepening her current situation. As the days went by, the woman, in a state of emotional desperation, requested voluntary discharge regardless of the consequences that could arise from her decision, and despite multiple explanations, her decision was irrevocable, generating feelings of sadness, helplessness and concern for her outcome. The care provided to the woman was based on the theory of Cornelia Rulan and Shirley Moore and how to incorporate this theory into practice from the disciplinary component, strengthening care with precise interventions organized in the nursing care process tool, it was shown that diagnoses such as hopelessness, nutritional deficit, acute pain, ineffective coping, were managed and measured through the nursing results with qualification according to the NOC indicators for each of them, achieving an evolution from 1 to 3 in some of them. Likewise, through the development of the narrative, the four elements of health care, person, environment, nurse are incorporated and progress is made in continuing to share that by caring with science we advance in the assertiveness of care.
